People have forgotten him but can Sri Lankan Tamils forget him? How many people have the good fortune to donate blood knowingly for the liberation of the motherland! His name is Velupillai Prabhakaran. Under his leadership an independent Tamil state was formed by making Jaffna independent in northern Sri Lanka but he was defeated and ‘martyred’ for his motherland along with his wife and children. This dream human revolutionary guerrilla leader was born in 1954.
Like the other eight to ten Sri Lankan Tamils, he began to live a white life, but the discriminatory behavior of the majority Sinhalese made him a revolutionary. Formed the revolutionary guerrilla organization ‘Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE)), he was the founder and commander. Commander Velupillai Prabhakaran was a disciple of Netaji Subhash Bose and Bhagat Singh. Besides, the life style of Alexander the Great and Napoleon greatly influenced him.
He was killed in 2009 by his own family in the Sri Lankan military. Velupillai Prabhakaran was killed in a final operation by the Sri Lankan Army in May 2009 near Mullaitivu in northeastern Sri Lanka. His wife Mathibadini, daughter Dwarka, eldest son Charles Anthony, head of the LTTE’s air force, and youngest son Balachandran, 12, were also killed.
At this time, no new country is becoming independent. Does that mean people have no desire for liberation? There is. In fact, this is exactly the reason why the people of the world will remember Lenin and Stalin at the same time as the liberating country of the people. Dozens of countries in different parts of the world, including Afro-Asia-Latin, became independent at the hands of the Soviet Union. The contribution of the Soviet Union and India in the war of independence of Bangladesh must also be remembered. People in different parts of the world participated in the struggle against imperialism, capitalism and colonialism. The seventies were really the ‘Decade of Liberation’.
Unfortunate Prabhakaran! Unfortunate Sri Lankan Tamil people! For whom there was or is no strong country to fight in the international arena or in the United Nations. This is where Marx, Lenin, Stalin, Brezhnev are unique. At least some nationalities have been liberated by their hands. Maybe if there was a Soviet, Sri Lankan Tamils would also be released.
Today is Lenin’s death anniversary! On the day of the death of Lenin, the liberator of the humiliated, deprived and oppressed people of the world, I remembered Prabhakaran who gave his life in the liberation struggle of the Sri Lankan Tamils. Red salute comrade Prabhakaran! Red salute comrade Lenin! Long live the revolution.
