In West Bengal now school principals are also child traffickers. Kamalkumar Rajoria, principal of Jawahar Naboday School in Bankura, has been arrested as a child trafficker. A total of 8 people, including an another female school teacher, have been arrested in connection with the child trafficking case. A total of five children have been rescued from the home of the school principal. Police are investigating whether the children were being trafficked to other states.
The most alarming thing is that every one of the children is a girl child. Three people, including the principal, have been remanded in police custody for seven days. The judge ordered the other five to remain in custody until August 2.
Besides the principal, police also arrested Sushma Sharma, a female teacher at the school. She is also involved in trafficking. A total of three of the eight arrested were women. Police sources said a nine-month-old baby was brought from the Durgapur Steel Plant Main Gate area seven days ago. It is alleged that Kamalkumar sold the child to Sushma. Investigation has revealed that Sushma is childless. There were also a few children in Kamal Kumar’s house. In all, a total of five children have been rescued.
Kamal Kumar had a plan to buy and smuggle children from the forbidden area of Durgapur Steel Plant with a large sum of money. Kamal Kumar is originally from Rajasthan.
