After receiving the news of the train accident at Mainaguri on Thursday afternoon, the Indian Railways Minister said that he would visit the spot. He also tweeted that he was keeping a close eye on the rescue operation. Ashwini Vaishnaw reached Howrah station at 1:15 pm and left for Mainaguri.
Standing at Howrah station, the Railway Minister said, “It is a very sad incident. All the injured passengers have been admitted to the hospital. Arrangements have been made to transport the remaining passengers to their destination. What caused such an incident will be thoroughly investigated. We will keep an eye on it so that it does not happen again in the future. ” The Railway Minister further said that the first goal now is to rescue the passengers.
