Tensions have been running high since Thursday morning surrounding the Naddar party meeting at the Light House ground in Sultanpur, Diamond Harbor.  As the day progressed, grassroots protests in Diamond Harbor, Sarishahat, Ustir Shirakol and Kulpir’s Hatuganj area became heated due to the demand for repeal of the Central Agriculture Act.  The police were overwhelmed by the pressure of the crowd of thousands of people.  117 national highways were blocked.  The Naddar convoy faced the anger of the people at Shirakol junction around 12:30 pm.

It is alleged that several vehicles were vandalized by throwing bricks when the convoy’s vehicle came to a halt.  BJP state president Dilip Ghosh, Mukul Roy, Kailash Vijayvargiya and several other activists were injured in the attack.  The situation is out of control before the mob, police resorted to baton charge on the convoy to pass.  Ignoring the obstacles of the grassroots activists and supporters, the Naddar convoy again faced a similar situation in Sarishahat around 1 pm.  The BJP alleges that bricks were hurled at convoys from grassroots protests everywhere.
