His last report was about the departure of high-profile BJP MLAs before the UP Assembly elections.
Millions of people responded to his death by saying that he was an unabashed journalist and a skilled storyteller. Associate reporters say they relied on him for news.
“Yogi Adityanathji has expressed grief over the death of veteran journalist Kamal Khan. He prayed for peace of his departed soul and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family members of the Chief Minister,” a statement from the UP Chief Minister’s Office said.
“The death of Kamal Khanji, who emerged as a serious voice of journalism, is very sad! His deep voice of truth will remain forever … My sincere tribute!” Samajwadi Party leader and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav wrote.
“I am shocked to hear the news of the death of veteran journalist Kamal Khanji. I met him just a few days ago and we discussed many issues. He has upheld the values of truth and public interest in journalism. My deepest sympathies to his family members,” said Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi.
“The news of Kamal Khan’s death is sad. He was a good and respected journalist. My condolences to his loved ones,” said Congress MP Rahul Gandhi.
