Will Smith: Hollywood Actor Will Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock on the Oscar stage. Actor Will Smith also had to pay compensation. He was banned from the Oscars for 10 years for that slap. As many of you know, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences hosts the Oscars. They met on Friday to discuss disciplinary action against actor Will Smith. At that meeting, it was decided that Smith would be banned from the Oscars for 10 years. Smith, however, resigned from the academy earlier, apologizing for his behaviour.
Smith could not accept the ‘joke’ with his wife Jada Pinkett Smith. Smith slapped Chris on the Oscar stage as a ‘punishment’ for his humorous joke about his wife. He later apologized to Chris and Oscar authorities for his behaviour. However, this year’s Oscar-winning actor was not spared even after apologizing. There is speculation that his reward may be taken away as punishment. Although Smith was banned from the Oscars, his prize was not taken away.
Actor Whoopi Goldberg, a member of the Academy Board of Governors, had earlier said that Smith would suffer the consequences of the slap. Following the incident, two major production companies outside the academy suspended their work with Smith.
However, Chris Rock, who was slapped at the centre of the controversy by Smith, has not yet commented on the matter.
