Did Madhuri Dixit Love Maqbool Fida Hussain?
When Madhuri Dixit was twenty-seven, Maqbool Fida Hussain was seventy-nine years old. Fida is believed to have fallen in love with Madhuri at the age of 79. He went to see Madhuri wearing a shirt, trousers and a hat instead of his kurta pajamas.
He drove a Mercedes and cooked biryani with his own hands and took it to Madhuri’s house. He also changed his name to ‘Macbull Fida Hussain’, and many jokingly called him ‘Madhuri Fida Hussain’. Fida has seen Madhuri’s ‘Hum Aapke Hai Kaun’ at least 95 times. Did Madhuri love Fida? The big complex question!
Maqbool was often present on the set during the shooting of the film Mohabbat (1997). He even played Fida in a small cameo role at the request of Madhuri in the film. Later, Maqbool Fida Hussain came to direct film thinking only of Madhuri. The name of the picture is ‘Gajgamini’. Even the story is his own writing.
Later, Fida made another film called ‘Meenakshi’ but Madhuri did not act in that film anymore. After Madhuri refused to act in the film, he casted ‘Tabu’.
Maqbool Fida Hussain painted many pictures of Madhuri. Madhuri was in America when Fida died abroad in the wrath of extremist Hindutva activists. They have not been seen!
